Relaxing after the wedding.

Mr. And Mrs. Clayton are happily wed and the rest of us are relaxing. Karen and Gary hosted a reception yesterday and the weather did not hold out long enough to sit in their lovely garden. We all enjoyed getting to know one another better and had fine conversation while the Doherty's kept us fed and watered. We had quiches and cakes and almost anything else you could dream of. Did not do justice describing the wedding as I was so tired from dancing and general revelry. St. Leonard's Parish Church in Seaford is close to 1000 years old and Keira and Jamie are the last couple to be married there prior to some major renovations (or refurbishment as they say in Britain). The wedding was meticulously planned and executed down to the last detail by Karen and Keira. Jackie used her expertise to do all the invitations, personalized menus, framed seating plan, favors, and the wedding cake with 140 cupcakes. Wish I could take one of those home for Patti but I know it would never make the flight (as I would consume it well before, knowing it was in my luggage). The fashions are similar to ours but more like the last royal wedding with the groom in tails, the groomsmen in ascots and women in hats and fascinators. Keira's accent color was champagne, so the entire wedding was tastefully classic. We went on to Dean's Place in Alfriston. Quaint and charming old inn with country gardens and luxurious rooms. After an exceptional dinner, heartfelt speeches and coffees in the lounge we returned for a casino and dancing. What a fabulous party! Off to Jackie's today to see their newly redecorated house after the flood a few months ago. It looks like it never happened except Jackie has the album to prove it. Tonight we see the Doherty's and Clayton's again and tomorrow we have to say our goodbyes as we are on to Italy. Thanks to all our wonderful family for their hospitality.
